The Statement of Purpose is one of the key factors in deciding on funds awarded. It must address the impact of the study abroad program on the academic, professional, and personal goals of the applicant. Students must at minimum address the following questions: a) What inspired you to study abroad and what factors led you to choose this particular program? b) What impact will this program have on you academically, professionally and personally? c) What challenges, if any, have you faced in your decision to study abroad and how do you address these challenges? d) Why is it important for students from South Texas to study abroad?
IMPORTANT: Be creative, simply answering the questions does not make for a good essay. The statement of purpose needs to be a minimum of 2 full pages (1 inch margins, double-spaced), font Times New Roman size 12. Only include your TAMIU Student ID at the top right hand corner of each page (DO NOT INCLUDE YOUR NAME).
